Ribeira Brava (Eng .: "Brausender Fluss") is a concelho and a village on the island of São Nicolau of Cape Verde . The district covers the eastern part of the island and 65% of the island's area. 59% of the island's inhabitants live there. The seat of the district is in Ribeira Brava . The president is Américo Sabino Soares Nascimento , a member of the PAICV . He was elected the first president in 2008.

history

The district was created in 2005 when the former Municipality of São Nicolau District was split up. The southwestern part became the Tarrafal de São Nicolau district .

politics

Since the district was founded, the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde has been the ruling party with 49.3% of the vote. Before 2008 there was an Installation Council .

The football club Sport Club Atlético is based in Ribeira Brava.
