Ricardo Serrano González (born August 4, 1978 in Valladolid ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

Ricardo Serrano received his first professional contract in 2003 with the Spanish cycling team Cafés Baqué . In 2006 he finished second in the Tour of Valencia behind Toni Colóm, eleven seconds behind . Serrano celebrated his first international success in 2006 at the Vuelta a La Rioja . He won the second stage and was first in the overall classification.

After Serrano won a stage of the Tour de Romandie in 2009, he was tested positive for the EPO drug CERA before the Giro d'Italia and then during the Tour de Suisse on June 13, 2009 and was immediately suspended by his team Fuji-Servetto.

In June 2010, the World Sports Federation UCI Serrano suspended for two years and he had to pay an additional 23,100 euros fine. According to the UCI, Serrano's Biological Passport showed an abnormal blood profile. Analyzes of doping samples from the previous year also indicated the intake of the blood doping agent CERA. Already in 2006 he was noticed with an excessive hematocrit value.
