Antonio Colom Mas (born May 11, 1978 in Bunyola ) is a former Spanish cyclist who was later active in triathlon .

Career

Cycling until 2009

Colóm turned professional at Amica Chips-Costa de Almeria in 1999 . He celebrated his first success in 2002 at Colchon Relax-Fuenlabrada when he won the Ruta del Sol . In 2004 he switched to first division Illes Balears and became more successful. He won the overall ranking of the Mallorca Challenge and a stage in the Tour of Valencia . In 2005 he was successful again at the Mallorca Challenge by winning the Trofeo Calvia .

At the beginning of the 2006 season I was in top form again. He won the Tour of Valencia including a stage. For the 2007 season he moved to the Astana team . He won the Trofeo Soller in the spring and a stage of the Dauphiné Libéré later that season .

After another season with Team Astana , he moved to the newly founded Team Katjuscha in 2009 . He won the Trofeo Inca , the overall ranking of the Tour of Mallorca , a stage of the Algarve Tour and the final stage from Paris-Nice .

2009 doping ban

On April 2, 2009 he was tested positive for the doping agent EPO , which put his sudden many victories in a dubious light. After a suspension, he was banned from the Spanish Cycling Federation for two years in May 2010.

Triathlon from 2014

At Ironman Germany (Ironman European Championship) he finished eleventh in June 2014, was able to win the age group 35-39 and thus qualify for a starting place at Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships) in October.
