Life

Froning was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan and shortly thereafter moved with his parents to Cookeville, Tennessee . There he attended Cookeville High School and began a sports career as an infielder in baseball . When he graduated from high school in 2005, he received a baseball scholarship to Walter State Community College . He played there for another year until he decided to quit his baseball career to work as a firefighter for the city of Cookeville while continuing his sports science studies at the Technical University of Tennessee. The city took over his college expenses because of his four-year engagement as a firefighter. He came into contact with CrossFit for the first time during his studies, and in 2009 he began to actively participate in the sport and work as a CrossFit trainer.

Froning works as a strength and conditioning coach at the Technical University of Tennessee and travels the country to give lectures on CrossFit and its training principles.

Sports career

Froning made his competitive debut at the 2010 CrossFit Games and immediately took second place. The following year he won the CrossFit Games 2011 and the title “Fittest Man in the World”. Froning also defended his title in 2012, 2013 and 2014. He is the first CrossFit athlete to win the title four times in a row. With the prize money, he opened his own CrossFit box in his hometown of Cookeville, Tennessee, and works there as a trainer.

Froning is part of the US team with which he took part in the CrossFit Invitationals in 2012 and 2013 and won against Team Europe in London in 2012 . 2013 he lost in Berlin against the Team World .
