Richard Auberlen

Richard Auberlen (born September 28, 1897 in Stuttgart , † after 1966) was a German road construction engineer .

At the time of National Socialism, Auberlen was a high-ranking construction officer and close collaborator of Fritz Todt . He participated in the development and construction of the first Reichsautobahn and derived design guidelines from the knowledge gained. These draft guidelines laid the foundation for the dynamic driving alignment of country roads and highways, which is still used today . Even after the Second World War, Auberlen shaped the dynamic driving design and construction of the German highways.

Auberlen was given an honorary doctorate in 1966 and was honored for his life's work. He was the author of numerous books and essays on modern road construction.
