Richard Bláha

Richard "Rich" Bláha (born November 6, 1973 in Prague ) is a Czech composer and sound designer .

Life

Bláha spent his childhood in Czechoslovakia . In 1982 his father fled with him to the Federal Republic . Bláha graduated from high school with a focus on music in Gießen in 1994 and studied Slavic and German at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen .

Since he was very interested in music and especially in composing his own pieces since his earliest childhood, he decided to turn his hobby into a profession in the 1990s and moved to Berlin in 1998 . Bláha worked for companies in the New Economy until 2000, then until 2003 for a Berlin recording studio for advertising as a composer , sound designer and music producer .

Bláha has been working as a freelance composer since 2004. He writes film music and sets commercials to music for well-known brands. Blaha composed several free pieces of music, such as u. a. two symphonies for orchestra, five string quartets and various piano pieces as well as music for films and short films, such as B. songs for the feature film Lunik or film music for "Der Fund" or "Tabula Rasa". In January 2019, Bláha released his self-published EP entitled Characters . The second track Quirky Character was used for an international online campaign by Audi AG (2019).

Bláha lives in Berlin . He is a grandson of the Czech actor Josef Bláha (1924–1994).
