Richard Cox (* around 1776; † May 20, 1845 in Colnbrook ) was a British brewer and gardener.

Cox originally ran a brewery in Bermondsey and retired to Lawn Cottage (later Colnbrook Lawn) in Colnbrook near Slough in Buckinghamshire (now Berkshire ) around 1820 . There he pursued his passion as a gardener. He dealt with the breeding of apples, with the apple varieties Cox Orange and Cox Pomona originating around 1830 . The great popularity of Cox Orange, which began in the mid-1850s, was no longer seen by Cox. His grave is in St. Mary's Cemetery in Harmondsworth .
