Richard E. Robbins
Richard E. Robbins (born December 5, 1969 ) is an American film director , screenwriter and film producer .
Life
Robbins graduated from Harvard and then started working for ABC News and PBS Frontline . He then worked for Peter Jennings at ABC News. The first collaboration was the documentary series The Century (1999). He was subsequently involved in several episodes of the Peter Jennings Reporting series.
Together with Peter Jennings he founded PJ Productions in 2004. after Jennings was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away just a year later, Robbins renamed the production company The Documentary Group . His first big coup was the documentary Operation Homecoming - Writing About War Experience on American War Returnees , which he also directed. The documentary was nominated for Best Documentary at the 80th Academy Awards . He also received a News & Documentary Emmy .
In 2013 he made the documentary Girl Rising about the educational aspirations of eight women.
In 2009 he produced his first feature film, Inside the Box . The television series 12 Monkeys followed in 2016 and Good Girls Revolt from 2015 to 2016 , for which he also wrote the script.
