Richard Forlán , full name Richard Forlán Resova , is a former Uruguayan football player .
Player career
society
Forlán, brother of Pablo Forláns and uncle Diego Forláns , belonged to the Mar de Fondo association in 1971 . In the 1970s, the offensive player played for the Montevideo Wanderers . There he and his teammates qualified for the Copa Libertadores for the first time in club history in 1975 . In the decisive game on January 28, 1975 they defeated Nacional 2-1. Forlán was in the starting line-up in this important game in the club's history. In 1976, his senior year at the club, he finished fifth in the Primera División with the Wanderers . The press named Forlán the best player in his position that year. He then moved to Argentina to Temperley , but returned to Uruguay that same year due to an injury. A few years later, in March 1979, he received an offer to sign with the Ecuadorian club Liga de Portoviejo, which was trained by Alberto Spencer . For one year, he was to receive $ 9,000. He then joined the club for three months. A meniscus injury to his right knee in the game against Universidad Católica , which required surgery, resulted in his dismissal. Forlán's next and last career station was Liga de Cuenca . After persistent health problems, he ended his career. Forlán was also under contract with Peñarol Montevideo and Liverpool Montevideo .
National team
Forlán was part of the Uruguayan junior national team , which took part in the 1971 South American Junior Championship in Paraguay and finished second. During the tournament he was used five times (one goal) by coach Rodolfo Zamora . In the run-up to the 1974 World Cup, he took part in a tour of Europe with the senior national team. In 1975 he was part of the Uruguayan squad trained by José María Rodríguez at the Copa America . During the tournament he was used twice. Overall, he completed six international matches (no goal) from his debut on March 23, 1974 to his last appearance on October 1, 1975.

After the career
Father of five, Forlán has been a TV commentator and football analyst for Manavisión in Manabí since 1997 .
