Richard Harter Fogle

Richard Harter Fogle (born March 8, 1911 in Canton , Ohio ; died November 29, 1995 ) was an American literary scholar.

Fogle studied at Hamilton College (BA 1933) and Columbia University (MA 1936); In 1944 he received his PhD from the University of Michigan with a thesis on visual language with Keats and Shelley. Since 1966 he has taught English and American literary history at the University of North Carolina , with his main interest in romanticism .
