Richard Howitt

Richard Howitt (* 5. April 1961 in Reading , Berkshire ) is a British politician of the Labor Party .

Life

After attending comprehensive school, Howitt studied political science, philosophy and economics at Oxford University . He graduated with a BA in these subjects in 1982. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Hertfordshire. After graduation, he worked for associations for four years and for a disability organization for eight years. Howitt was a member of Harlow District Council from 1983 to 1995, including three years as congregation leader. In 1987 he was a candidate for the Labor Party in Billericay in the general election. Richard Howitt has been a member of the Labor Party Forum for National Politics since 1994 and has been a member of the European Parliament since 1999 .

Howitt is a member and deputy in the following committees and delegations in the EU Parliament:

As a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs , the Subcommittee on Human Rights and a delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee.

As a deputy, he is also involved in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs , in the Subcommittee on Security and Defense , in the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan, as well as in the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia and in the Delegation for relations with the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO.
