Richard Hunger (basketball player)

Richard Hunger , also Rich Hunger or Rick Hunger (born July 19,  1959 in Montreal ) is a former Canadian - German basketball player .

career

Hunger played ice hockey in his home country Canada, and when he was 15 he switched to basketball. He played and studied from 1977 to 1981 at Providence College in the US state of Rhode Island . In his final season 1980/81 he scored an average of 12 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per encounter. With a total of 166 blocked opposing throws, the 2.06 meter tall indoor player was in third place in the university team's all-time best list when he left it in 1981.

Hunger switched to the professional camp after completing his career in the NCAA and played for OAR Ferrol in Spain in the 1981/82 season. This was followed by a detour to Italy, where he reinforced Pallacanestro Firenze before the left-hander was back in Spain in 1983/84, this time with Cajamadrid.

In 1984 Hunger moved to SSV Hagen in the basketball Bundesliga and stayed there until 1986. He moved to Saturn Cologne within the Bundesliga . With the Rhinelander he became German champion in 1987 and 1988. In addition, he competed with Cologne in the European Champions Cup . In 1988 he ended his career. In later professional life he worked in Canada for companies in the aviation sector, among other things.
