Richard M. Schulze

Richard M. Schulze (* 1940 in Saint Paul , Minnesota ) is an American entrepreneur and co-founder of the retail company Best Buy .

Life

Richard M. Schulze attended St. Paul Central High School from 1958, which he left early. He did his military service with the Minnesota Air National Guard.

Together with his business partner Gary Smoliak, Schulze founded the US retail company Best Buy in 1966 , which has around 155,000 employees (as of 2009) and sales of USD 45.015 billion (as of 2008). From 1966 to 2002 Schulze was CEO and later Member of the Board of Best Buy. According to Forbes Magazine , Schulze is one of the richest Americans and is listed in The World's Billionaires in 2005 . Schulze set up his own family foundation for education. The Schulze Hall named after him was built in 2005 on the grounds of the University of St. Thomas with funds from the foundation .

He is a second marriage, has ten children from both marriages and lives with his family in Bonita Springs , Florida .
