Bonita Springs is a city in Lee County in the US state of Florida with 43,914 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Bonita Springs is located in southern Florida on the Gulf of Mexico and borders Fort Myers Beach in the northwest . Fort Myers is 15 miles, Miami 200 km and Tampa 150 miles away.

climate

The climate is subtropical and therefore warm all year round. Statistically it rains in the summer months - even if only briefly - on an average of 40% of the days. Daytime temperatures range from May to October at 31 ° C. The coldest months from December to February bring average daily temperatures of 24 ° C. In summer, the high humidity in particular means that the perceived temperatures are well above the 31 ° C mentioned above.

history

In 1904, the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad built a railway line from Punta Gorda to Fort Myers, which was extended to Bonita Springs in 1925 and to Naples in 1926 . In 2000, 81.68% of the population spoke English as their mother tongue, 15.30% spoke Spanish and 3.02% had another mother tongue.

Parks and sports facilities

The Bonita Beach Park is particularly beautiful - the public beach with very fine and white sand. Here can be a day dolphin watching and with a little luck you can also very shy manatees (Engl.
