Tice is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County in the US state of Florida with 4470 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Tice is on the south bank of the Caloosahatchee River and is crossed by Florida State Road 80 . The CDP borders directly on Fort Myers in the south . Tampa is approximately 190 km and Miami 230 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 4470 inhabitants were distributed over 1700 households. The population density was 1490 inhabitants / km². 51.3% of the population identified themselves as whites, 8.6% as African American , 1.3% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 34.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.4% to several ethnic groups. 62.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 41.1% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 20.5% of all households. 64.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.28 people and the average family size was 3.78 people.

32.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 34.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 22.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 11.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 29 years. 56.6% of the population were male and 43.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 36,850, with 31.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 61.90% of the population, 37.74% spoke Spanish and 0.36% spoke German .

On July 8, 1999, the Tice Grammar School was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
