Buckingham is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County in the US state of Florida with 4036 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Buckingham borders directly on Fort Myers to the west . The Interstate 75 and the Florida State Road 80 lead near the CDP over. Tampa is 200 km and Miami 230 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 4036 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 1705 households. The population density was 82.2 inh / km². 91.5% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.5% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 2.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.0% to several ethnic groups. 10.1% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 34.4% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 25.3% of all households. 76.5% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.71 people and the average family size was 3.01 people.

24.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 20.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 35.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 19.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 43 years. 50.9% of the population were male and 49.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 75,063, with 3.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 93.54% of the population and 6.46% spoke Spanish .
