Matlacha is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County in the US state of Florida with 677 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Matlacha is located on an island in a strait between Pine Island and mainland Florida in the Gulf of Mexico . The Pine Island Road connects the CDP with Pine Island and the mainland near Cape Coral via several bridges . Matlacha is around 23 km west of Fort Myers . Tampa is approximately 190 km and Miami 250 km away.

According to the 2010 census, the then 677 inhabitants were distributed among 626 households.
