Palmona Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County in the US state of Florida with a population of 1146 (as of 2010).

Transport and geography

Palmona Park is affected by the Tamiami Trail ( US 41 ) and Florida State Road 78 and is located around 5 km northwest of Fort Myers . Tampa is 190 km and Miami 250 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 1146 inhabitants were distributed over 622 households. The population density was 545.7 inh / km². 87.7% of the population identified themselves as whites , 2.7% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 5.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.9% to several ethnic groups. 19.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 28.3% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 20.5% of all households. 53.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.40 people and the average family size was 3.07 people.

24.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 33.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 41 years. 53.2% of the population were male and 46.8% were female.
