Gateway is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County in the US state of Florida with 8401 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Gateway is touched by Florida State Road 82 and is located directly east of Fort Myers . Tampa is 130 miles away and Miami is 130 miles away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,401 inhabitants were distributed among 4108 households. The population density was 976.9 inh / km². 87.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 5.0% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 3.1% as Asian Americans . 1.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.3% to several ethnic groups. 11.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 38.3% of all households and people aged 65 or over lived in 23.4% of all households. 77.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.01.
