North Fort Myers is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County in the US state of Florida with 39,407 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
North Fort Myers lies on the north bank of the Caloosahatchee River and borders Cape Coral and Fort Myers on the other side of the river . The CDP is traversed by Interstate 75 , the Tamiami Trail ( US 41 ) and Florida State Roads 31 and 78 . Tampa is 180 km and Miami 230 km away.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 39,407 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 27,108 households. The population density was 289.1 inh / km². 94.7% of the population identified themselves as whites , 1.5% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 1.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.1% to several ethnic groups. 6.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 59.0% of all households lived in 12.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 59.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.98 people and the average family size was 2.45 people.
12.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 10.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 23.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 53.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 62 years. 48.3% of the population were male and 51.7% were female.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.43% of the population, 2.56% spoke Spanish and 2.01% had another mother tongue.
