Richard "Rick" McKinney (born October 12, 1953 in Decatur , Indiana ) is an American archer.
McKinney participated in four Olympic Games; in the individual competitions he was fourth in 1976 in Montreal , 1984 in Los Angeles he won the silver medal in second; at the 1988 Games in Seoul he reached 6th place, four years later in Barcelona he disappointed with 40th place. In the team he was used twice and reached sixth place next to the silver medal in Barcelona in 1988.
In addition, McKinney was three times world champion in archery , 1977, 1983 and 1985. With the team he even triumphed five times in a row, from 1975 to 1983.
After his playing career, he remained loyal to archery in the development of carbon fiber bows.
In 1996 he wrote the book The simple art of winning for recurve athletes.
