Richard Reuther
Richard Reuther (born July 13, 1908 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ; † February 22, 1992 there ) was a German gymnast, inventor and trainer.
Act
Reuther was a member of the German team and did gymnastics for the Oppau Gymnastics Association , whose chairman he became after the Second World War . He is the namesake of the Reuther board he developed in 1941 , which was introduced in 1953/54, as well as the Reuther uneven bars with elastic properties, which he also developed in the 1950s and introduced at the Palatinate State Tournament in 1965 .
In 1939 he performed with the German national team against Italy in the Sarrasani circus in Dresden . He looked after the multiple German champion Philipp Fürst . After the Second World War he worked as a gymnastics official, including a member of the DTB gymnastics committee.
Even today (as of 2020), uneven bars and horizontal bars are built using the "Reuther System" with the connection of the spar collar with the upright via three straps and cross bolts.
