Richard Schwab (born January 8, 1917 ) is a former German football player. In 1936 he became German soccer champions with 1. FC Nürnberg .

Schwab already belonged to 1. FC Nürnberg as a youth soccer player. At the beginning of the 1934/35 football season, he moved up as a striker in the 1st men's team of the Franks. After a championship game against FC Bayern Munich in October 1934, his coach Hans Kalb judged : “Schwab still has a lot to learn. He is strong enough and has no reason to pinch in front of his opponent. ”Schwab had his most successful season in 1935/36, but benefited from a serious knee injury to regular left winger Willi Spieß . So Schwab was used in its place, initially in two final round games for the German championship in 1936. In the preliminary round group game 1. FC Nürnberg - Stuttgarter Kickers , he scored the 2-0 final score for the club as a left winger. Schwab was also used as a left winger in the final on June 21, 1936 against Fortuna Düsseldorf . With a 2-1 win after extra time, 1. FC Nürnberg became German football champions for the sixth time, while Schwab won his first and only title in Germany-wide football.

After Spieß recovered, Schwab moved back into the second line and was eliminated from 1. FC Nürnberg at the end of the 1936/37 season. In his three years at the club, Schwab only made 20 competitive games. He earned his living as a trained master butcher in his parents' business.
