Richard Stockinger

Richard Stockinger (born January 30, 1934 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Stockinger was a member of the state parliament and member of the Vienna City Council and from 1975 to 1978 district chairman of the 19th district of Vienna Döbling .

Stockinger was born in Döbling and learned the profession of typesetter. He was already active with the Rote Falken from 1947 and became a member of the Socialist Youth in 1948. In 1957 Stockinger was elected to the district board of the SPÖ-Döbling, between 1966 and 1974 he held the function of district secretary. After Robert Weisz was elected to the National Council in 1966, Stockinger succeeded him on April 22, 1966 as a member of the state parliament and local council. Stockinger resigned on March 11, 1975 from the state parliament and municipal council to take over the office of district chairman of Döbling on the same day. However, the SPÖ lost its majority in the district for the first time since 1945 in the district council election in 1978 , whereupon Stockinger had to surrender his office to Adolf Tiller (ÖVP) on December 6, 1978 . Stockinger was subsequently deputy district chairman between December 6, 1978 and December 9, 1987, and finally represented the SPÖ again in the Vienna state parliament and municipal council from December 9, 1987 to August 8, 1996.
