Richard Tran
Richard "Rich" Tran is an American local politician. He has been Mayor of Milpitas (California) since December 2016 .
Tran is of Vietnamese descent. After graduating from Milpitas High School , he studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology. He earned a Master of Social Work degree from San José State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University Wagner School of Public Service . He then served as a medical social worker for Santa Clara County .
In November 2016 he was elected Mayor of the City of Milpitas and on December 13, 2016 he was sworn in.
