The Richter Peaks are a group of up to around 1350 m high mountains in the center of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . They loom near the southern end of the Walton Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the biologist Joseph J. Richter, who was active in two Antarctic summer campaigns at the Palmer station between 1965 and 1967 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program .
