The leading light line Jappensand is a leading light line for the inner jade built between 2010 and 2012 . It started operating on June 5, 2012.

The construction of the leading light line was necessary due to an adjustment of the Jade fairway in the course of the construction of the JadeWeserPort . The leading light line replaces the previous leading light line in Eckwarden , which is no longer needed due to the relocation of the fairway and was taken out of service when the new one went into operation.

The leading light line consists of two horizontal red and white striped lighthouses , which are located on the Jappensand shoal in the transition from the Inner Jade to the Jade Bay . The 21 meter high Jappensand sub-fire is located on the northwestern edge of the Jappensand and weighs around 38 tons. The associated head fire Jappensand is located around 1.5 kilometers further south in the center of the Jappensand. It is 44 meters high and weighs 62 tons. Both towers were erected on May 30 and 31, 2011 with the help of a floating crane on the foundation pipes previously driven into the tidal flats .

The new facility was planned according to the specifications of the Wilhelmshaven Waterways and Shipping Authority. It also operates the facility. The total costs for the construction of the leading light line in Jappensand and for dismantling the leading light line in Eckwarden are estimated at around 3.9 million euros. The costs are borne by the Jade-Weser-Port Realisierungsgesellschaft as the cause of the fairway relocation.
