Radio mast in Essen

The Essen directional radio mast was a guyed steel framework mast in the Essen district of Holsterhausen . The installed system enabled the directional radio links of the Deutsche Bundesbahn to Frankfurt am Main .

The transmitter mast was erected in 1955, was 181 meters high and was laid down in 1971 after the DB telephone traffic was switched to cable. The nearby street Am Funkturm was named after him in 1961.
