Rick Mitchell
Rick Mitchell (actually: Richard Charles Mitchell ; born March 24, 1955 in Sydney ) is a former Australian sprinter .
At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was sixth over 400 m . Over 200 m he won his preliminary run, but did not make it to the quarter-finals. With the Australian team he was eliminated in the 4-by-400-meter relay in the preliminary round.
In 1978 he won the 400 m at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and won bronze with the Australian relay. In 1980 he won over 400 m silver at the Olympic Games in Moscow behind Viktor Markin from the host country. Two more silver medals followed at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 over 400 m and in the 4-by-400-meter relay.
His last appearance at an international championship was two years later at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . With the Australian relay he came in fourth place.
In 1976, 1977 and 1980 he was Australian champion over 400 m.
