Rico Engler (born April 28, 1987 in Borna ) is a German soccer player .

Career

He began his career in 1992 in the youth team of SV Flößberg . After Engler played at FSV Kitzscher and Bornaer SV , he moved to VfB Leipzig . After the club went bankrupt , he played for its successor, 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , and already played for the first team in the 2005/06 season. He hinted at his talent and scored two goals in five games. In 2006 he became an integral part of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. Engler is known for his speed and his goal danger. For the 2010/11 season he moved to SV Babelsberg 03 . He played his first game for Babelsberg in the third division on the second match day against SV Wehen Wiesbaden , when he came on for Anton Müller in the 78th minute . However, Engler was mainly used in the Babelsberger Reserve in the Brandenburgliga . He scored his first third division goal on matchday 36 in a 1-1 draw against SG Dynamo Dresden . At the end of the 2010/11 season, the club announced that Engler's expiring contract would not be extended and the striker returned to Lok Leipzig. With Leipzig he made it to the new Regionalliga Nordost in the 2011/12 season .
