Rico Gatzke

Rico Gatzke (* 1978 in Neustrelitz ) is a German pianist .

Life

As an 18-year-old he was serious about playing the piano and in 1997 he began studying in the piano class of Prof. Karl-Heinz Will in Rostock . He later continued his studies with Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl in Stuttgart and with Jürgen Schröder in Berlin . International master classes with Elisabeth Leonskaja , Matthias Kirschnereit , Bracha Eden and Alexander Tamir rounded off his training.

His duo at the International Piano Duo Competition of the Chopin Academy in Warsaw was the only German duo to reach the finals and was awarded a diploma. In 2003 Gatzke won the 2nd prize and the special “Nove Cento” prize at the International Piano Competition in Finale Ligure.

Gatzke has given concerts at the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival , the Chamber Music Festival in Nowy Sacz / Poland as well as in London, Warsaw, Berlin, Leipzig, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania and Italy. Since 2005 he has been teaching piano at the Rostock University of Music and Theater.
