Matthias Kirschnereit (* 1962 in Dorsten ) is a German pianist .

Life

Matthias Kirschnereit grew up in Namibia and later studied at the Detmold University of Music with Renate Kretschmar-Fischer . He was the winner of prestigious competitions at home and abroad such as the German Music Competition in Bonn, the Concours Géza Anda in Zurich and the International Australian Piano Competition in Sydney. In 1989 he received the sponsorship award from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . The ensembles with which Kirschnereit performs include the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich , the Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart and the Festival Strings Lucerne .

In 1997 Kirschnereit, who lives in Hamburg, received a professorship at the Rostock University of Music and Theater .

There are more than 20 CD recordings with the interpreter Kirschnereit, including a complete recording of all of Mozart's piano concertos with the Bamberg Symphony on the ARTE NOVA / Sony BMG label between 1999 and 2006 . In 2009, Kirschnereit received the ECHO Klassik for the world premiere of the reconstructed Piano Concerto in E minor by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy together with the Robert Schumann Philharmonie Chemnitz under the direction of Frank Beermann . Kirschnereit has been artistic director of the tidal concerts in East Friesland since 2012 .
