Ricochet is a progressive rock - band from Hamburg.

Her 1996 debut Among The Elements (T & T / Modern Music) was released worldwide and met with a positive response from critics, especially in Europe, and achieved high sales figures. This paved the way for an international career. After the album was released, they had various live appearances, including in the opening act for Yngwie Malmsteen and at Wacken Open Air , something that is rather rare among progressive rock bands.

The soaring was interrupted by the departure of singer René Jobig and bassist Sören Hückel . While the band quickly found a successor for the latter with Hans Strenge from Göttingen, the loss of the front man was the beginning of an almost two-year dry spell for Ricochet, as the band could not find a successor for their singer from many applicants. With Christian Heise they found a new front man in autumn 1997 , who left the band after almost exactly thirteen years in October 2010 for personal reasons. The new front man Michael Keuter, a member of the band since 2012, has already made music together with metal greats such as Kai Hansen or Michael Weikath and was most recently active for several years with the Uriah Heep cover band "Easy Livin".

While at the beginning of the joint work, borrowings from role models such as Dream Theater or Marillion could still be heard from the music, the band's own style became more and more clear over time. One of the reasons was that all band members also devoted themselves to other projects and thus brought in new influences. Keyboarder Björn Tiemann, for example, could be heard on the last two Kingdom Come albums and toured with the band across Europe.

The band's second album, Zarah - A Teartown Story , is about a young girl's path, which is as short as it is marked by suffering, from abuse to the murder of the perpetrator to her suicide while in prison.

Others

In 1994 the band took part in the ARD evening series " Großstadtrevier ".
