Ridiculous Thoughts is a rock song released in 1994, written by Dolores O'Riordan and Noel Hogan and performed by the Irish band The Cranberries .

Publications

The song was released on the album No Need to Argue and released as a single in 1995. It was the fourth single release from that album and the sixth overall. The album version released in 1994 has a length of 4:31, a shorter version without an intro, which lasts 3:36, appeared on the album Stars .

Musical structure

There is an extraordinary intro at the beginning of this song. Only after almost a minute does the actual song begin with the words "Twister, oh". The Am-CGG chord progression is used during the stanzas. The chord progression AMaj7-Em-Am-Am is used for the refrain and after the second refrain through to the end. The song is in A minor and in 4/4 time. It ends with a fade out.

Video

Elijah Wood plays in the video ; Directed by Samuel Bayer. There are two versions of the video:

Version 1: Dolores, Noel, Mike and Fergal stand in front of a poster that shows a sword swallower. In this video, Dolores wears a red dress with dark red lipstick and purple eye shadow. The scenes with Elijah Wood were hardly changed.

Version 2: A concert appearance. Elijah Wood also appears in this version. Dolores wears a jumpsuit with a USA pattern.
