Unterrieden (454 inhabitants) and Oberrieden (117 inhabitants) are now districts of the city of Altdorf near Nuremberg. They are located northeast of Altdorf on the federal motorway 6 .
history
The name Rieden , which is used within the administration and in the names of associations, is only to be seen as a general name for the two places Ober- and Unterrieden and as a field name. Rieden used to be referred to as male dogs .
Ober-Rieden was described as a village on the mountain of Raschbach with four whole and five half estates, 14 hearths and around 100 inhabitants.
Unter-Rieden, at least temporarily also Nieder-Rieden, is located directly below on the Rieder Mountains. It has only 3½ yards, but 16 to 20 hearths and around 130 residents.
With the community edict (1808), Rieden became a politically independent community. The name of the community was originally Unterrieden . In 1865 it was changed to Rieden .
On January 1, 1978, this was incorporated into Altdorf as part of the Bavarian regional reform .
