The Rieder house on Salzburger Platz in Althofen is a Renaissance building from the end of the 16th century. The building has a Renaissance portal with an iron plate door, a twin window and Renaissance window frames . The sgraffito decoration , designated 1590, is one of the most artistically important in Austria.

Sgraffitofries

The frieze begins with a narrow base made of curved diamond blocks above the architrave of the main portal or above the ground-level windows. Above it, the heroic deeds of Heracles are depicted in scenes in a band that extends under the window sill of the windows on the first floor . The nine muses are depicted between the windows . The muses depicted are: (from left to right) Urania , Klio , Euterpe , Thalia , Melpomene , Terpsichore and Erato . Of the nine depictions of the Muses, two have been lost on the south wall of the house. Over the profiled stone cornices of the windows masks with lying, screwed horns and animal shapes spilling down over the corners can be seen in the middle.
