Riesachfall

The big and the small Riesachfall or Riesachwasserfall im Untertal near Schladming in the Schladminger Tauern are together the highest waterfalls in the Austrian state of Styria . The Great Riesach Waterfall is over 70 m high. The waterfalls are protected as a natural monument ( list entry ).

The waterfalls are located in the lower Untertal and represent the confluence of the Riesachbach in the Untertalbach .

The Wilde Wasser hiking trail connects it with the Talbachklamm at the valley exit near Schladming. The ascent takes place from Gasthaus Riesachfall directly at the foot of the Riesachfalls. The walking time to the Kleiner Riesachfall is ten minutes, to the Großer Riesachfall it is 30 minutes.

The Alpinsteig Höll and other hiking trails lead to the Riesachsee above the falls , framed by the Hochwildstelle and the Greifenberg with the Klafferkessel and the Preintalerhütte .

The area near the Gasthaus Riesachfall was used from 2010 to 2012 as a film set for the first parts of the ZDF-ORF coproduction Die Bergwacht .
