The Klafferkessel is a valley in the Schladminger Tauern , in the Untertal south of Schladming . It is an important nature reserve (Klafferkessel in the Schladminger Tauern region) .
Location and landscape
The Kartal is located in the back valley of the Untertalbach , at the foot of Greifenberg ( 2618 m above sea level ) and Waldhorn ( 2708 m above sea level ). It forms the valley head of the Huberalm Bach in the Steinriesenbachtal and the Lämmerkarbach , and thus a pass landscape of a local watershed.
In a former glacier floor there are around 30 mountain lakes. The Klafferkessel itself consists of two interlocking karen with series of partly icy lakes in various sizes (the largest of which are the Untere Klaffersee , the Rauhenbergsee , the Obere Klaffersee and the Kapuzinersee ), in between rock, crags and alpine mats . The rock of the Greifenstein towers over the Klafferkessel.
The nature reserve ( NSa 11 , 1980; 1130.6 hectares ) also includes the basin of the Sonntagskarseen and the Trattensee to the east . To the south of the Tauern main ridge ( Breite Scharte and Waldhorntörl ) the basin around Zwerfenbergsee and Lungauer Klaffersee connects , which is no longer part of the protected area.
The path from the Gollinghütte to the Preintalerhütte , which is also a section of the Central Alpine Trail, leads through the Klafferkessel .
