Riesenalm

The Riesenalm is an alpine pasture in the Hohenaschau district of the municipality of Aschau im Chiemgau .

Several Kaser of the Riesenalm are under monument protection and are registered under the number D-1-87-114-128 in the Bavarian monument list.

Building description

In the “Bavarian Monument Atlas ” the Öderkaser and the Braunkaser on the Riesenalm are mapped as architectural monuments , but the Bavarian Monument List gives four listed alpine huts.

All of the buildings were single-storey flat-gable roof buildings with plastered quarry stone masonry . The Öderkaser is the northernmost building of the group of five, has an extension towed to the south and is marked with the year 1841. The alpine hut marked 1842 is probably the Braunkaser that is located in front of the giant hut .

The alpine hut from 1786, on which the roof was renewed in 1990, is likely to be the Aignerkaser . This is the southernmost building on the east side of the group of five. The list of monuments indicates another building that is “probably from 1748”. This could be the Hamberger Kaser , which is considered to be the oldest building on the Riesenalm.

Other buildings on the Alm are the Hartbuchkaser from 1991, which is the southernmost building of the group of five, the Hamberger Schuppen next to the Hamberger Kaser , the Almkapelle from 1982 west of the group of five and the giant hut east of the agricultural buildings.
