The Rifugio Mario Bezzi , also Rifugio Bezzi , is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2284  m within the municipality of Valgrisenche on the site of the former Alpe Vaudet. The hut is privately managed from mid-March to mid-May and from mid-June to mid-September and offers sleeping places for 82 mountaineers during this time.

The hut is dedicated to the Italian entomologist Mario Bezzi (1868-1927), who taught at the University of Turin and was director of the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali di Torino.

rise

The ascent to the hut begins in Surier (or Usselière), a district of Valgrisenche at 1,785 m . Surier lies at the end of the Lago di Beauregard reservoir .

From there the path first leads up the slope to the south via an unpaved road. After a few meters, the path to the Rifugio Chalet de l'Epée branches off to the left. The path to the Bezzi hut continues along the course of the Dora di Valgrisenche . After leaving the road, the path becomes increasingly steeper and winds up through shrubbery and later meadows to the refuge.

For the ascent of Surier, which does not show any technical difficulties, 1 hour 50 minutes are estimated.

Tour possibilities

From the refuge, Col de Bassac, Lago San Martino, Col Vaudet, Col Bassac and Lac du Vuert can be reached within 2-3 hours.
