The Rifugio Gian Federico Benevolo (also Rifugio Benevolo ) is a refuge in the Graian Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2285 m within the municipality of Rhêmes-Notre-Dame on the site of the Alpe di Lavassey. The hut is open from the beginning of March to the end of May and from mid-June to the end of September and offers 58 mountaineers sleeping places during this time.

The ascent to the hut begins in Thumel, a district of Rhêmes-Notre-Dame at 1,879 m . Thumel is at the end of the Val di Rhêmes , a side valley of the Aosta Valley .
From the parking lot, head south and leave the road after a few minutes. From there, the path leads across meadows south up the slope.
For the ascent of Thumel, which does not show any technical difficulties, 1½ hours are estimated.
Tour possibilities
From the refuge you can easily walk in 2 hours to the lakes Lago di Goletta (2,751 m) at the foot of the Granta Parey glacier or to Lago di Sainte-Hélène (2,715 m) with a good view of the Val di Rhêmes and the Hiking Granta Parey.

- Transfer to the Rifugio Mario Bezzi refuge via the Col Bassac Déré (3,082 m).
