Riga-Berlin Rifle Division ( Russian Рижско-Берлинская стрелковая дивизия ) refers to a division of the Red Army in the Great Patriotic War that was established in Voronezh in December 1941 as the 6th motorized rifle division of the troops of the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs . In January 1942 it was renamed the 8th Motorized Rifle Division of the Troops of the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs and in July 1942 it was transferred to the Red Army as the 63rd Rifle Division .

As part of the troops of the Southwest , the Stalingrad , the Central , the Voronezh , the 2nd Baltic and the 3rd Baltic , the Leningrad and the 1st Belarusian front , she took part in the fighting towards Oboyan , the Battle of Stalingrad , the Battle of Kursk , the reconquest of Ukraine east of the Dnieper , the Leningrad-Novgorod Operation in 1944, the Pskov-Ostrov Operation , the Riga , Vistula-Oder , East Pomerania - and the Berlin Operation in 1945.

For services in combat, it was converted to the 52nd Guards Rifle Division on November 27, 1943 and was given the honorary name "Riga" on October 31, 1944 and "Berlin" on June 11, 1945.
