The Rigsby Islands are a small group of icy islands off the northeast coast of Adelaide Island in the archipelago of West Antarctic Adelaide and Biscoe Islands . They are 3 km south of the Sillard Islands in Matha Strait .

Aerial photographs of the US Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) and the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957) were used to map them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the US geologist George Pierce Rigsby (1915-2009), a recognized expert in the study of crystal structures and the plasticity of ice .
