Rikard Lang

Rikard Lang (born February 22, 1913 in Vinkovci ; † September 16, 1994 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav economist and lawyer .

Life

Rikard Lang was born in 1913 in Vinkovci, the son of Ignjat Lang, a lawyer and President of the Jewish Community in Zagreb . He attended elementary school and high school in his place of birth. He studied law and obtained his doctorate in 1936 at the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb . After graduating, he worked as a lawyer until he joined the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army in 1942 .

After World War II he became a professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb. Rikard Lang founded and taught at the Chair of Political Economy. From 1960 to 1962 he was Dean of the Law Faculty. He taught workers' self-government in the countries of the non-aligned states and the Third World . Lang was director of the Croatian Economic Institute in Zagreb (1954–1974), editor of the economic magazine Ekonomske studije (1962–1970) and participant of the Croatian Spring .

Rikard Lang wrote more than 200 scientific works. He spoke 5 foreign languages (English, German, French, Italian and Russian).
