Slobodan Lang

Slobodan Lang (born October 8, 1949 in Zagreb ; † February 23, 2016 there ) was a Yugoslav and Croatian politician , journalist , publicist and doctor .

Life

Slobodan Lang was of Jewish origin. His father Rikard Lang was an economist, lawyer and participant in the Croatian Spring . His grandfather was president of the Jewish community in Zagreb. In his hometown, Slobodan Lang attended elementary school and high school. He studied medicine at the University of Zagreb , where he graduated with a thesis in the field of social medicine.

He was a professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Zagreb and was a visiting professor at the University of Mostar and 1985 to 1996 visiting professor at the Boston University School of Public Health . Lang was editor of the Croatian Medical Journal and founder of Hrvatski časopis za javno zdravstvo (Croatian Public Health Journal). He was a member of the Executive Council of the City of Zagreb, Secretary of the Secretariat for Health Care, Special Advisor to the first Croatian President Franjo Tuđman , Parliamentarian in the Council of Municipalities and Ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
