Mohamed Rilwan Alowonle (born December 12, 1993 in Cottage Grove ) is a Nigerian athlete of American descent who specializes in the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Rilwan Alowonle gained his first international experience at the Commonwealth Games 2018 in the Australian Gold Coast , where he finished fifth in 49.80 seconds. He then retired at the African Championships in Asaba with 51.97 s in the first round, but won the bronze medal behind the teams from Kenya and South Africa in 3: 04.88 min with the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2019 he took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the first time and came in fourth there with 49.42 seconds. He also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where he reached the semifinals , but was eliminated there with 52.01 s.
