The Rim Glacier is a 10 km long and up to 2 km wide glacier in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It flows from the polar plateau in a northerly direction through a deeply cut valley to the Mackay Glacier .
The naming of a chain sprocket ( English rim ) recognized by the New Zealand Geographic Board in 1995 goes back to the use of bicycles as a means of transport when exploring the area by the team around New Zealand glaciologist Trevor JH Chinn (* 1937) between 1992 and 1993 .
