Rimantas Pleikys

Rimantas Pleikys (born November 25, 1957 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian journalist and politician.

Life

After graduating from the Druskininkai Middle School , he worked as a technician at the Druskininkai transmitter in 1976. In 1981 he graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in journalism and until 1985 taught at the university's journalism department. In 1989 he founded the first independent radio station "M-1" and was editor-in-chief until 1990. In 1990 he founded the radio station " Radiocentras ", which he ran until 1995.

From 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Seimas and from 1996 to 1998 Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology .
