Rimona Francis

Rimona Francis (* in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli jazz pianist and singer.

Francis, whose ancestors came from Bulgaria, recorded one of the first jazz albums made in Israel with her husband, the Israeli jazz pioneer Stu Hacohen , in the late 1960s. The instrumental use of her voice and the use of Bulgarian rhythms (9/8 and 13/8 time) were characteristic.

At the invitation of Dizzy Gillespie , she and her husband performed several times in the USA in the mid-1970s, as well as at several festivals in Europe. In 1976 she was the singer on David Friedman's album Future Passed . In 1977 MPS made a record in the Villingen studio with Leszek Zadlo , Jasper van't Hof , Barry Finnerty , Frank Tusa and Buddy Williams . In the same year she worked on Miroslav Vitouš 's album Majesty Music as a keyboardist and singer. She made further recordings with her husband in 1978.
