Wrestling jersey

Wrestler jersey with high cut.

A wrestler jersey (or ringer suit ) is a one-piece, tight-fitting suit, usually made from spandex , lycra, or nylon . A wrestling jersey is often used by novice wrestlers.

The jersey is tight so that the opponent can get hold of his opponent more difficult and the dragging over the mat does not cause skin damage. The pants are also prevented from slipping thanks to the better hold than one-piece.

Appearance

Common team colors are worn in most high school and college wrestling events. Often, however, an anklet is added as an additional distinguishing feature. Outside of school sports, for example at international competitions, wrestlers usually wear blue and red jerseys to differentiate them. Professional wrestlers usually have more individual jerseys, also with a printed logo.

Cuts

  • The "high cut" covers the stomach and goes almost to the armpits. One-pieces with sleeves also fall under this point.
  • The “medium cut” differs from the high cut in that it has thinner and slightly longer straps. This cut is also called the Fila cut because it has been approved as an official competition jersey by the Fédération Internationale des Luttes Associées .
  • The "low cut" does not make the wrestler sweat so quickly and is sometimes worn under laundry. It consists almost entirely of the trousers part and long straps.

Under the jersey

Female wrestlers are prohibited from wearing an underwire bra under their leotard.
